Church program

Discipleship training

Active

Discipleship training helps believers know Christ, read Scripture well and teach others. It runs from first steps in faith to leadership and theological training.

What we do

  • Foundations classes for new believers.
  • Bible study groups.
  • Leadership training, and theological training for people preparing for ministry.
  • Spiritual formation in prayer and Scripture, drawing on the Church Fathers.

Why we do it

Jesus made disciples who made disciples. Paul told Timothy to pass on what he had learned to faithful people who would teach others. Each generation of believers trains the next.

“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

2 Timothy 2:2ESV

How we do it

  1. First steps

New believers learn who God is as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who they are in Christ, and how to pray and read Scripture.

  2. Bible study

Small groups read Scripture together and apply it to daily life.

  3. Leadership

People called to lead are trained to teach, to care for others and to start new groups.

  4. Theology

Deeper study of the Trinity, the Incarnation and union with Christ, with the Church Fathers.
